This bone was found on a beach by a friend who is a conservationist, and gifted to me. It is from an old donkey that looked as it was a heavily worked animal that died where it fell and was then left. Wanting to acknowledge the strength and beauty of the creature, I fixed this portion of its beautiful form onto an old ebony stand where it rises above a base of antique and vintage jewellery pieces and turquoise. In some ways this piece is perhaps reminiscent of old Catholic reliquary, where remnants of saints and religious personage were covered in jewels to the point the original form was rendered inconsequent under the weight of its glamour. Never Alone Again however, rises above mundane glamour and is magnificent in its demonstration of true essence. This piece is a talisman to protect against oppression, disempowerment and exploitation.
