Mixed media with beads, coral (white and red), amber (white and golden), seeds from a mala, and bone from an antique necklace. This was created during the coronavirus lockdown. When I started on the sculpture I had no end result in mind, only various thoughts that I wanted to incorporate protective substances such as coral and amber and create something that would embody the word ‘apotropaic’. After finishing I realised I had made something that was essentially channeled- an interplay of light and dark- if what is feared is embodied, to a degree, it can be worked with and overcome.
